Edit formal conflict search parties

If you added parties to a client-matter but did not start the conflict search, you can edit the parties while the search has a Not Started status. This gives you the opportunity to make any changes to parties or add more parties before running a search. For example, you may need to edit search parties if the initial conflict search request was incomplete or awaiting follow up or if the party name contains a typo.

  1. On the Home screen, click Practice and then click SureClear. You can also click Main menu icon on any other screen and select SureClear under Practice.

  2. Click the Formal Search tab. A list of all existing formal conflict searches is displayed.

  3. Optionally click Work on behalf of next to the Account menu and select the user to work on behalf of.

If you do not need to work on behalf of someone else, make sure another user's name is not displayed to the left of the Account menu.

  4. Find the search to edit in the list. Only searches with a Not Started status can be edited.

Tip: You can filter or sort the list to find your search. See Work with item lists.

  5. Click Edit icon next to the search.

The Formal Search screen appears with the existing parties listed in the bottom part of the screen.

  6. Use the party information in the middle of the screen to add or import parties to the search. For information about manually adding parties, see Perform a formal conflict search. For information about importing parties, see Import parties for formal conflict searches.

  7. To edit a party, click Edit icon next to it. The party information populates in the area above the parties list. Make any changes and then click Update Party. The party Category cannot be changed.

  8. To remove a party, click Edit icon, enter an End Date in the area above the parties list, and then click Update Party. The End Date can only be set to the current day or a day in the future. When an end date is set, the party becomes inactive and is not included in searches run after the selected date. If the party needs to be included in the search later, you can add it again with a new start date. To see all active and inactive parties, slide the Active toggle to the left.

  9. If you are ready to run the search, click Start Conflict Search. Once a search has been started, the parties in it can no longer be edited.

If you want to save the changes but run the search later, click Return to go back to the formal searches list.
